Wildfires in Canada’s British Columbia prompts state of emergency

More than 180 wildfires are burning in the western Canadian province of British Columbia, prompting the authorities to declare a state of emergency.

It is the first state of emergency declared by the province in 14 years.

The federal government says it is monitoring the situation closely and is ready to provide assistance upon request.
