Right whale rescuer: Fisherman Joe Howlett mourned

A Canadian volunteer whale rescuer was killed in an accident this week while cutting an endangered right whale free from fishing lines.

In this video, provided by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), Joe Howlett can be seen carrying out a successful rescue in 2016.

“Joe will be remembered as a kind man with great humour and a ready smile,” IFAW said.
