While pubs are closing across the country at an alarming rate there’s been a dramatic growth of micropubs in the last decade. These small alternatives to pubs hark back to the old ale houses – they are often just one room and dedicated to cask ale.
A new guide published this month catalogues how they are often to be found in unusual places. The Today programme visited one in a tiny former cab office on the platform of a train station in Surrey. It fits just two customers.
